By tackling existing weaknesses and lack of capabilities of the current generation of Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs), NAVIGATE will provide new insight into how long-term climate goals can translate into short-term policy action, and how countries and sectors can work in concert to implement the Paris Agreement.
The modelling teams in the consortium focus on further developing the models to represent structural change in the economy and technological change, lifestyle changes, spatial and social heterogeneity and avoided climate change impacts, and the co-benefits and trade-offs with other sustainable development goals. The partners aim to increase the usability, transparency, legitimacy and hence uptake of IAM results by key user groups.
This Scenario Explorer is hosted by the Scenario Services team of the IIASA Energy, Climate and Environment program.
The project consortium consists of 17 partner instiutions from European countries, China and Brazil.
